JQuery and a First Blog Entry
GeneralLook Ma' no han.... No, that isn't right...
So here it is, my first of many blog posts. Here's a little about me. My name is Steve Good. I live in the Dallas / Fort Worth metroplex, and I have been coding for the web since 1995. I started by copying HTML source of things I liked from other peoples websites and putting it in my geocities page. After figuring out HTML for myself I realized that though a long column of static content was amazing, it just wasn't enough for me. I dabbled with Perl for about a year but got nowhere fast. Then I found ColdFusion. We were a perfect fit! So, in mid 1999 I picked up my first CFWACK and began building applications. I haven't looked back!
I am now currently in a job developing and maintaining a large CF 8 application in Dallas, and loving it!
I spend most of my time outside of work maintaining a few sites for my personal clients, and trying to come up with new ideas of how things could be done, both on and off the web.
I am happily married with 3 great step kids, 3 cats who know they run the place, and an unbalanced chihuahua who is convinced we are going to beat him.
JQuery
Taking Dave Shuck's advice, I picked up a book and began learning more about JQuery last night. After having spent a week trying to accomplish tasks with the packaged CF8 AJAX functions and tags I was ready to toss my laptop out the window and declare AJAX the worst technology of all time. JQuery has saved my view on AJAX. After having only worked with it for an evening, I can safely say that I am in love with how easy it is to work with. For me, learning JQuery has been like when i was learning CF. There is that "Aha! I get it!" moment, and after that ideas just start pouring into my head. I look forward to working more with JQuery and will be posting my exploits of working with both it and CF8.
That's it from me, and thanks for taking the time to read my first post. Have a great day and God bless.
~Steve
